Bought a pair of [brand / model] in [month] and made the mistake of saving them for opening day. Four miles in on a steep [unit] I had blisters on both heels the size of a nickel.
Lesson I already knew and ignored: a boot is not ready because the box says it is. Wear them around the yard, then on short scouting walks, then on a real hike with a pack, for a few weeks before you trust them on a mountain.
They are broken in now and they are the best boots I have owned. I just paid for them twice.
